What’s in the test?
The test is divided into four subtests: listening, reading, writing and speaking.
The Listening and Reading subtests are designed to assess a candidate’s ability to understand spoken and written English, based on health-related topics and tasks common to all professions.
The Writing and Speaking subtests are specific to the 12 individual healthcare professions and designed to reflect common tasks performed in the workplace.

When you arrive, you will need to:
- Show the valid ID document* you used when you applied for OET.
- Get your digital photograph taken
* You must provide your valid ID (RG. Driver’s licence will not be acceptable) or passport as proof of identity.
Bring with you the same document used for registration.
Test day registration time
Open: Please attend at least an hour before your first scheduled sub-test begins per your timetable, sent ten days before your test.
Close: Registration closes half an hour before the start of your first Written sub-test.

Test day format
The three written tests will take approximately 3 hours. In addition, a 20 minute speaking test is also scheduled on the same day. For more detail on the test day format, go to: https://oet.com/test/test-overview
You can receive a Statement of Results which shows your score for each of the four sub-tests, on a scale from 0 to 500. Each of the four sub-tests is assessed in a specific way.
You can see an overview of your latest test scores via your online profile on the OET website, approximately 16 business days after each test day. Official copies of Statements of Results can be downloaded from your online profile. You can choose which test administration you wish to download a Statement of Results for and this will list the scores you obtained in that particular test administration.
The four sub-tests that make up the OET are reported on a scale from 0 to 500 in ten-point increments (e.g. 350, 360, 370 etc). The numerical score will be mapped to a separate letter grade for each sub-test ranging from A (highest) to E (lowest). There is no overall grade for OET.

Location
The test is run at our centre at Avenida Adolfo Pinheiro, 1000. Cjs 111-113 – five-minute walk from the subway station Alto da Boa Vista.
The test centre is accessed between Adolfo Pinheiro and Rua Nove de Julho (corner of Rua Nove de Julho). Entrance to the building is beside the cafeteria called Café do Ponto.
